Mr. Humayun Ahmed, the legendary Bangladeshi author, dramatist, playwright and film director, passed away on the 19th July 2012. This is one of the most shocking moments in the history of the nation.
He was undoubtedly the most famous of his time. The impact of his works on the nation was too vivid to describe. “Kothao Keo Nei” (Nobody is anywhere) was a drama serial by him that featured an idealistic gang leader named “Baker Bhai”, who was wrongly convicted and executed. Baker Bhai became so popular that before the last episode was aired, people across the country brought out processions protesting his death sentence; public prayers and death anniversaries have also been observed for this fictional character.
Mr. Ahmed was a PhD of Polymer Chemistry from North Dakota State University. He was a professor at the Department of Chemistry in the University of Dhaka. He retired from his teaching profession to devote more time for his writing.
